A Korean blending sponge is a reusable makeup applicator used to press, tap or blend cushion, liquid and cream base products. The category can include rounded sponges, flat cushion puffs, thicker air-layer puffs and applicator sets supplied with a storage case.

A rounded blending sponge is commonly squeezed or bounced for a diffused finish. A cushion puff is flatter, normally has a finger strap and is pressed or tapped for thin, controlled layers. Some soft base applicators suit both methods and may appear under more than one filter.

Follow the selected applicator’s directions. Damp-expanding sponges are normally wetted, squeezed thoroughly and used slightly damp for diffusion. Flat or thick cushion puffs are often used dry for pressing and coverage. Do not wet an applicator unless its care instructions allow it.

Pick up a small amount of foundation, then tap from the centre of the face toward the outer areas. Use light repeated presses instead of dragging. Add another thin layer only where needed and use the puff edge for smaller areas around the nose and eyes.

A flat soft puff with a secure finger strap gives controlled pickup and even pressing with cushion foundation. A thicker puff can feel more cushioned in the hand, while a smaller edge helps around facial contours. Check the puff’s stated compatibility with your chosen base formula.

Clean frequently, ideally after each use when the applicator holds moist base product. Use a gentle cleanser, rinse thoroughly, press out water without twisting and air-dry completely. Follow any different cleaning method supplied with the product.

Replace it when the surface tears, the shape no longer recovers, product cannot be cleaned out properly or a lasting odour remains after washing and drying. Replacement timing varies with material, use frequency, cleaning and storage.

Dry the applicator fully in a ventilated place before closing it inside a case, compact, pouch or drawer. Keep damp sponges away from enclosed bathrooms and direct heat. If a case is washable, clean and dry it separately before putting the applicator back.
