What is the difference between AHA, BHA and PHA?

AHA exfoliates the surface to improve dullness and texture. Salicylic acid, a BHA, also works within pores and suits pore-clogging buildup. PHA offers gentler-feeling exfoliation with moisture-retaining properties. Choose the acid family around your main concern, then check the complete formula.

How often should I use an exfoliating toner, pad or serum?

Start slowly and follow that product’s directions. Frequency depends on the acid, strength, format and your skin’s response. Leave time between uses while you introduce it, and reduce frequency if skin feels dry or uncomfortable.

Do I need AHA, BHA and PHA in the same routine?

Start with one exfoliating product. A formula already combining acids has its own directions, so follow those before adding another exfoliant. Keep moisturiser and daily sunscreen as the supporting steps.

Can I use exfoliating acids with retinol?

When introducing exfoliation, use acids and retinol on separate nights to keep the routine easier on your skin. Both increase the chance of dryness or irritation when overused. Follow each product’s directions and build frequency gradually.

Do I need sunscreen if I exfoliate at night?

Yes. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher each morning. AHA can increase sun sensitivity even when applied at night, so maintain sun protection during use and for a week after stopping an AHA product.
